For months and months, I had been searching for a pair of matching nightstands to give a makeover. I was searching Facebook Marketplace daily and checking thrift stores frequently with no luck. I really hit the jackpot with these. Would you believe they were only $3.99 each!?
We have this thrift store nearby that is, in my opinion, overpriced but they have an outdoor clearance section that sells everything for $3.99. I’ve bought at least 3 $4 chairs from there as well.

Here is a close up of the tag just in case you don’t believe me!

I started out by using my orbital sander with 80 grit sandpaper.

I used this micro sanding tool to get in the hard to reach angles.

I split the sanding into multiple days since this is a very tedious task to me. I like to do it in smaller increments to keep my sanity. I finished it off by sanding with 120 grit to smooth the finish out a bit.

The pulls were 4 inches center to center which is exactly the same size of the black pulls I had just removed from our kitchen so I decided to try them out.

I ended up choosing the black handles but kept the original ones in case I ever want to switch them back.

I actually never did any top coat on these. I was not sure if I wanted to stain them. It has been almost 9 months since I completed them and they have been fine and don’t seem to be drying out. I still might do something else to them in the future.

I linked my orbital sander along with sanding discs which are way cheaper than ones you will find at Lowe’s or Home Depot. Shop my supplies HERE.
