I’ve loved the look of open shelving in a kitchen for a while and thought that this little sink corner was a perfect place to add some to our kitchen. The cabinets that were on either side of the sink were pretty deep and made me feel a bit boxed in while at the sink. Removing these uppers and replacing them with floating shelves opened the corner up so much and it also allows me to display cute kitchen items.
Shelf Details
We went with Ultra Shelf for our floating shelves. These are White Oak Natural 1.75 inches thick and 12 inches deep. The width of our shelves is 28 inches.
These are high quality solid white oak shelves. The back of the shelves is routed so that the shelf brackets sit flush inside of the shelf and it will sit tightly up against the wall.
