Up until recently our daughter shared a bedroom with one of her 3 brothers. We somewhat recently made some changes to our layout creating a 5th bedroom giving all of our kids a room of their own.
Over the past several months we have been slowly collecting new furniture, bedding, art, and other cool thrift store finds to create a bedroom that she loves.
Now that we feel like we have all of those items checked off the list we decided to customize her bedroom a bit more by adding a beadboard accent wall.
Before
We started out by purchasing 4X8 foot paintable beadboard panels from Lowes.
Cut them in half using a circular saw and a clamp edge.
Then secured them to the wall with some liquid nails and a nail gun just on the edges.
We used a Dewalt multitool to cut openings for the electrical outlets to fit into.
We used chair rail to trim the top of the beadboard and then caulked all of the gaps, seams, and nail holes. From the floor to the top of the chair rail trim the beadboard wall measures 51 1/2 inches.
Paint
I chose the color Plaster from The Castle Collection from Magnolia Home by Joanna Gaines®, crafted with KILZ® in satin sheen to complete this project. (This was part of a paid partnership)
This color is such perfect light warm beige. It could work so well in so many spaces.
Since my daughter’s favorite color is dark blue and she chose dark blue bedding by Beddy’s I made sure to accent it with natural tones and textures to keep the room from becoming too cool toned and this paint color complements it all perfectly.
The coverage of this paint is EXCELLENT. It combines the properties of paint and primer giving it exceptional stain blocking and coverage. One coat was just about good enough but I did do 2 coats total to make sure I didn’t miss anything.
